Choosing The Right Skin Care Moisturizer Cream

There are many different skin care products available in the market today. Many of these skin care products are really helpful in reinforcing the moisture in our skin and getting rid of blemishes that occur in our skin. Moisturizers are often one of the necessary beauty and skin care products that we need. There are basically two types of moisturizers and these are the lotions and the creams. Lotions are light moisturizers that individuals use daily while creams are usually used for overnight use.

Why We Need A Skin Care Moisturizer Cream

A skin care moisturizer cream is one of the necessities of both men and women who have dry skin or a combination type of skin. We need a skin care moisturizer cream to maintain the moisture, elasticity and suppleness of our skin. Dry skin is often flaky and parched to look at, which is not presentable at all and makes us susceptible to skin disorders and rashes. A skin care moisturizer cream is recommended for use overnight. This is because the skin care moisturizer cream is more dense than ordinary moisturizer lotions and during the night we do not go out anymore and run the risk of people seeing us with cream on our faces.

A skin care moisturizer cream is usually used for the face and other areas that are exceptionally dry. Compared to lotions that contain more water, skin care moisturizer creams are more concentrated and you do not need to repeat the application compared to a lotion where there is a need for repeated application because you feel that it did not penetrate the skins so well. Most skin care moisturizer creams are for the eyes and other parts of the face.

Ingredients To Avoid In A Skin Care Moisturizer Cream

The more natural the ingredients in your skin care moisturizer cream the better it will be for you. Chemicals and other petroleum based ingredients are to be avoided in skin care products. These can damage your skin eventually and many can contribute to cancer. Other chemicals are harsh and can cause irritation in our skin. Artificial fragrances can also be dangerous to us. There are no laws that specify or target chemical induced fragrances so manufacturers can place anything in the skin care moisturizer cream as a fragrance.

It is better to choose creams that are organic and pure botanicals since these not only moisturize our skin but also help soothe and heal damaged skin.

Hey! Pay Attention To These Skin Care Tips!

All the skin care goop you can smear on, peel off or step into cannot help you if you don’t do your part. There is no instant solution for great skin – or even fairy decent skin. Fortunately, these skin care tips will not only help your skin look its best, but will help every other part in your body, too. Think of it as multitasking for your health! And if you do decide to use any skin care product, they will work better for you because you gave them a fighting chance.

Drink Plenty Of Water

You need at least six glasses of water a day. This is the least expensive and most overlooked skin care tip out there. Water does not equal liquid. Water, flavored waters and herbal teas hydrate your body and the skin. Other popular kinds of beverages do not. Drinks like coffee, black tea, hot chocolate, carbonated drinks, energy drinks and especially alcohol dehydrate your body. They are okay only occasionally.

Water not only helps keep your skin soft, but helps to remove toxins from your body. Drinking plenty of water has other benefits besides skin care. Water helps keep your urinary and digestive systems functioning normally. Water helps keep all of the liquid parts of your body flowing and helps give you energy.

Don’t Smoke

This is a harsh but true skin care tip – if you smoke, your skin is screwed. Smoking dehydrates your skin, as well as making your more prone to wrinkles and skin cancer. Smoking can also discolor the skin on many parts of the body – not just in nicotine-stained fingers. Smoking also leaves your skin smelling like an old ash tray.

Learn How To Handle Stress

Another tried and true skin care tip that is often ignored is that you need to learn how to handle your stress. Your emotions not only show on your face, but they do a number on your skin. Some aggravating skin conditions like hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), psoriasis and eczema are aggravated when you are stressed out. You need to learn how to prioritize demands on your time and take time out for you.

Don’t turn to chemicals or food in order to relax. That’s another skin care tip that’s often ignored. Chemicals will affect your skin. Use meditation, a walk in the park, laughing with friends or petting your dog in order to help you relax. Over time, these skin care tips will leave you with a healthier body overall.

What Skin Care Products Are Necessary?

Not all skin care products are necessary for us but there are some that we do need. Some are redundant skin care products that are just made more expensive by the expensive name brands that they are packaged in. The kinds of skin care products that we really need depend on the type of skin we have. Once we have an idea what our skin type is, we can start to choose which skin care products are necessary for us.

Types Of Skin

People have several skin types including normal, oily, dry, sensitive and some combinations of all four skin types. Consulting a dermatologist to know which skin type you have may be necessary especially if you have a combination skin type. Normal skin is usually smooth with little or no blemishes while oily skin is commonly oily to touch and can easily attract dust and dirt. This makes it prone to breakouts such as whitehead, blackheads and acne.

Dry skin is usually is somewhat parched looking and is prone to flaking. This skin type is more prone to ageing and wrinkles. Combination skin is often dry and oily skin. Each part of the face that has these individual types must be treated accordingly. Sensitive skin is prone to rash and irritations when you use harsh skin care products or skin treatments on it. It is also prone to changes in the weather.

Basic Skin Care Products

Dry skin usually needs skin care products replete with moisturizers to help it maintain elasticity and lessen its susceptibility to ageing and winkles. A night cream should also be added to the daily regimen of a person with a dry skin type to ensure proper moisturizing.

For those individuals with oily skin, skin care products with sebum control are good for managing oiliness. Make sure that the skin care products you use will not overly dry your skin in the process of controlling the sebum.

Sensitive skin types need to be careful what skin care products they use on their skin. Mild skin care products are ideal for the sensitive skin types and also those that do not contain any fragrances and perfumes.

Combination skin types need to treat each specific area according to its type. Normal skin types may have no problems regarding skin care products as long as they choose ones that are not overwhelming to their skin. Knowing which kinds of products are needed for your skin is necessary to maintain the appearance and health of your skin.

Skin Care for Men – Recommendations

It is not just women who are concerned about the appearance and health of their skin. Men also want to have good looking skin, free of rashes and dry areas. Good looking, healthy skin can help give a man’s face an attractive appearance. There are tips and products that can help men keep their skin looking good or in some cases to significantly improve the health and look of their skin.

The skin of males contains about fifteen percent more oil than does the skin of women and men also typically have larger pores than women, thus men have a tendency to get dirtier skin. For skin care for men, some experts recommend that men perform a deep cleansing on their skin on a daily basis in order to keep the pores clean and give the skin a pleasant appearance. Avoid using cleansing products filled with chemicals and deodorants. These products might cause skin irritation and they will end up clogging your pores.

Scrubbing and Moisturizers

Recommendations for skin care for men include providing your facial skin with a beneficial scrubbing which will eliminate dead skin cells and give your face a smooth appearance. Avoid scrubbing products that contain rough substances such as seed extracts or small grounded pieces of nuts. These products will actually cause harm to your skin. Skin care for men includes using a quality moisturizer and choosing products that do not contain chemicals or only very small amounts.

Skin care for men also includes applying a moisturizer to the face after shaving as well as after cleansing the skin. Moisturizers applied after shaving should not contain alcohol or a heavy amount of fragrances since they can aggravate the skin. As men get older they might want to use astringents as well as toners that contain glycolic or alpha hydroxy acids in order to maintain their skins’ elasticity. You should purchase products that are not sensitive to light.

Sunscreen Protection

Using sunscreen as part of a skin care for men program is essential. It is recommended that you use a sunscreen product with a SPF of fifteen or higher. The sun can cause brown spots to form and can make your thin wrinkles and lines look worse. Also, exercising can help you maintain good looking healthy skin since exercise stimulates the capillaries. Make sure you get the recommended amounts of vitamins E and C and avoid smoking cigarettes. These are some of the skin care tips for men that can keep your skin healthy and looking good.

Has Your Skin Care Body Lotion Been Tested On Animals?

Thankfully, it’s getting easier and easier to find quality products like skin care body lotions that are cruelty free. “Cruelty free” means that the product was not tested on animals. This is another form of medical testing on animals, who often go through extremely painful procedures without any anesthetics or euthanization. These tests are considered unnecessary by a good portion of the scientific community. In just twenty years, the buying public has demanded less and less animal testing in their skin care body lotions and still gets great skin.

The Leaping Bunny Logo

Around 1996, there really was no national certification standard to make sure that those products listed as “cruelty free” really WERE cruelty free. In response to the confusion, in the city of brotherly love (Philadelphia), the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics was born. When a skin care body lotion or other kind of cosmetic meets their standards, they are allowed to use a logo of a leaping bunny.

Major Companies

Since 1996, some major players in the beauty care and cosmetics business have gone cruelty free and get the Leaping Bunny logo. And their quality hasn’t suffered at all. These companies include Avalon Natural Products, The Body Shop, Kiss My Face, Mary Kay, Paul Mitchell and Tom’s Of Maine. Some of these products are available in department stores, grocery stores and in specialty shops or websites.

Remember, the leaping bunny logo does not necessarily mean a product is organic. Although “organic” is more and more meaning “cruelty free”, there are some products and skin care body lotions that are organic, but are not cruelty free. You need to look for another label from the FDA (for you Americans) to see if the product is certified organic.

Affordable Luxury

Skin care body lotions are one of the most versatile and affordable beauty products. It feels good going on, it smells good for a long while and leaves you feeling pampered. They come in all kinds of scents and moisturizing content. They make thoughtful and inexpensive gifts, because they are the kind of thing every body needs but usually forget to buy.

Make sure the container says it is a body lotion, or “hand and body lotion”. Lotions just for the face are made of different stuff – and are usually quite expensive! Some intensive hand lotions are really only for super dry skin. A good bet is buying a skin care body lotion that is for normal or sensitive skins…that have the leaping bunny logo, of course.
